NAL-Lander: Not Atari Lunar - Lander

This is a clone of Atari's lunar lander, minus all the atari stuff, that made it a great game.

Long ago, people where more interested in space travel, they dreamed of going to new planets, starting with the moon. They even developed a lunar lander, this is what they were going to use to land on the moon, explore and launch off the moon, when they returned to earth.

What I have done is written a Lunar Lander simulator that allows you to land on the moon. You objective is to find different landing places to land, these are marked in green, however you can land anywhere as long as it is a flat landing spot.

The Game:

As you know the objective is to land the LEM on the moon with out crashing. There are 3 landing places at beginning of the game where you will need to land. Not all of them are on the start screen, you will need to traverse over the surface to find them. They are marked in Green and also indicate extra points when you land on them. They are scored as follows. 2x - worth 2X 25 points, 3x - 3 X 25, and 4X - 4x 25. The higher the multiplication factor the more difficult the landing spot.

The Controls:

To start the engines - after you begin the round, you can engage the engines by pressing down on the screen. You will see a flame from the lander.

Rotating the lander - this is accomplished by using 2 fingers on the screen, you can rotate to the right or left to rotate the lander accordingly.

To quickly straighten the lander - you can swipe up with one finger, this will straighten the lander. you also use this to start a new round when you have landed or crashed on the moon.

Information:

Opening Page:

Text box: enter you name or initials

Start: - this starts the game, you are placed on a lander and you job is to land it.

Hi-score Reset: clear all highscores.

Starting:

You will see a lander arching down to the surface, this also shows High scores, to clear it press the screen this will start the engines and start your turn.

Left side:

Score - Top value

Time - Second value - this lets you know how long you have been landing.

Fuel - you start out with 1000 lbs of fuel for the duration of the game, until you restart a new game. Use your fuel wisely. This is indicated on the under Time on the left top side.

Right Side:

Top - Altitude - distance to the surface of the moon. This value should decrease, sometimes slowly, sometimes fast.

X Speed - Horizontal speed per meter ( you want try to slow down to zero as much as possible, the slower the better)

Y Speed - Vertical Speed, how fast you are falling. (Hint you don't want to go very fast)

Floating Labels:

Top value - Meters - altitude to Lunar surface

2nd Value - Horizontal speed this tells you how fast you are moving in meters, it will begin with an R or L this tells you what direction you are moving.

3rd Value - Vertical speed, this tells you how fast your Descending or Ascending, D indicates you moving to the moon; A - you are gaining altitude.

4th Value - Fuel, shows you home much fuel you are consuming. ( as long as you are not zero, you good, however....)
